Use of DNA evidence. Permits, subject to Combined DNA Index System (CODIS) guidelines, the superintendent of the state police department to authorize the investigation of a person genetically related to an individual whose DNA profile is stored in the Indiana DNA data base if the results of a DNA test conducted on a DNA sample as part of a criminal investigation: (1) do not show an exact match between the DNA sample and the DNA profile stored in the data base; but (2) show that the DNA sample matches the DNA profile stored in the data base so closely as Use of DNA evidence.
