Assistance for the hearing impaired. Requires the fire prevention and building safety commission (commission) to adopt rules requiring the installation of assistive listening systems that provide a wireless direct connection to the listener, such as audio frequency induction loop systems (AFILs), and beacon positioning systems in Class 1 structures located in a first or second class city. (Under current law, the commission is required to adopt rules requiring that a person must consider the installation of AFILs and beaconing position systems.) Provides that if an owner, operator, or employee of a retail establishment wears a face mask while interacting with Assistance for the hearing impaired. (Under current law, the commission is required to adopt rules requiring that a person must consider the installation of AFILs and beaconing position systems.) Provides that if an owner, operator, or employee of a retail establishment wears a face mask while interacting with customers during a public health emergency, an owner, operator or employee must, upon request, wear a face mask that is transparent to allow for lip reading. Provides that a customer may file a complaint with the local health department.
