DIGEST OF INTRODUCED BILL
Age discrimination. Transfers jurisdiction over age discrimination proceedings from the commissioner of labor to the civil rights commission (commission). Prohibits certain actions by an employer, a labor organization, or an employment agency relating to discrimination against an individual at least 40 years of age. Establishes procedures for filing an age discrimination complaint. Provides specific remedies for an age discrimination violation for a complaint filed with the commission or a circuit court. Repeals provisions concerning the jurisdiction of the commissioner of labor over age discrimination cases.
