DIGEST OF INTRODUCED BILL
Local government reorganization. Eliminates the requirement that a reorganization committee must be appointed to prepare the reorganization plan as part of a proposed local government reorganization. Provides that the legislative bodies of the reorganizing political subdivisions (rather than a reorganization committee) shall prepare the reorganization plan that must be adopted by the legislative bodies before the proposed reorganization is placed on the ballot. Repeals a provision: (1) requiring the consideration of a final reorganization plan; and (2) allowing voters to petition to have the final reorganization plan placed on the ballot; if a reorganization plan is not approved within one year after the reorganization plan is presented.
