Teacher licensure. Requires the department of education to grant an initial practitioner license to an individual who: (1) holds at least a bachelor's degree or the equivalent from a postsecondary educational institution; (2) submits fingerprints and any required fees for a national criminal history background check and has not been convicted of certain crimes; and (3) successfully completes the American Board alternative teacher certification program. Provides that an individual who receives an initial practitioner license by meeting these conditions: (1) is authorized to teach the subject matter and grade levels for which the individual has successfully completed the American Board
Teacher licensure. Provides that an individual who receives an initial practitioner license by meeting these conditions: (1) is authorized to teach the subject matter and grade levels for which the individual has successfully completed the American Board
alternative teacher certification program; and (2) is eligible to receive a practitioner license after teaching for at least three years under the initial practitioner license. Provides that an individual who holds an initial practitioner license under these conditions is a "new teacher" for purposes of the Indiana new educator induction pilot program.
