Law enforcement training academy - MRDD training. Requires training in interacting with persons with mental illness, addictive disorders, mental retardation, and developmental disabilities for law enforcement personnel, jail officers, probation officers, and correctional officers. Requires that the training be provided by persons approved by the secretary of family and social services and the law enforcement training board. Requires that the commissioner of the department of correction give priority in issuing community corrections grants to programs that provide alternative sentencing projects for persons with mental illness, addictive disorders, mental retardation, and developmental disabilities. (The introduced version of this bill was prepared by the Indiana commission on mental retardation and developmental disabilites and the Indiana commission on mental health.)
